Roles and permissions

Every member of your app has one of four roles. The role controls what they can do in your community and whether they can access this dashboard.

The four roles

• Owner (red badge). The account that created the app. Owners have full access to every setting, billing and team management, and the owner role cannot be changed or removed from the Users page. There is exactly one owner per app; ownership can only move via Transfer Ownership in the Danger Zone.
• Admin (green badge). Full access to manage the app: content, members, marketing and most settings. Admins can sign in to the dashboard.
• Moderator (amber badge). Trusted members who help you run the community. Moderators can moderate content and manage community members inside your app, and count as staff for features like the Loyalty till, but they cannot change your app's configuration.
• Member (grey badge). The standard role every new signup receives, with normal access to your app's features.

Only owners and admins can sign in to the Kinflo dashboard itself. If a member or moderator tries to log in with the dashboard URL, they are signed straight back out, so sharing links around your community is safe.

Change a member's role

1. Open Users from the sidebar.
2. Click the three-dot menu on the member's row and choose Change role.
3. Pick Member, Moderator or Admin. Each option shows a short description: "Standard member with basic access", "Can moderate content and manage users", or "Full access to manage the app".
4. Click Confirm.

The modal shows the member's current role so you can sanity-check before saving. If the member is the owner, the modal explains that the owner role cannot be changed.

Change roles in bulk

Select several members with the row checkboxes, then open any row's three-dot menu and choose Change role under Bulk actions. The chosen role applies to everyone selected; owners in the selection are skipped automatically.

Dashboard team versus app roles

Roles here apply to members of your app. The people you invite to help run the dashboard are managed separately in Settings; see the Team article for invitations and dashboard permissions.
