Free and paid events

Updated 17 July 2026

Every event has an RSVP mode set in the event editor: Instant, Form or Paid. The mode decides what a member does to secure a place.

Instant

One tap and the member is going. Use this for casual, free gatherings where you just want a headcount. The dashboard shows an "Instant" chip in the RSVP column.

Form

Members answer your questions before their RSVP is confirmed. Selecting Form opens the form fields builder, where you add fields of six types: short text, long text, dropdown select (with your own options), checkbox, email and phone. Mark any field as required, and reorder fields with the arrows.

Answers appear against each attendee in the event's Attendees tab, expandable per person, and are included in the CSV export. Good for dietary requirements, experience levels or travel details.

Paid

Members buy a ticket to attend. Selecting Paid reveals:

  • Ticket price - required and must be above zero.
  • Currency - GBP, USD, EUR or AUD.

Payments run through Stripe and arrive in your connected Stripe account, so complete Stripe onboarding before publishing a paid event. A member's place is only confirmed once their payment succeeds; someone mid-checkout shows as payment pending rather than going.

Tip: the price chip in the events list shows the mode and price at a glance, for example "Paid · £15.00", so you can spot a mispriced event before members do.

Capacity and the waitlist

Any mode can have a Capacity. The events list shows "going / capacity" (for example 18 / 25). When an event fills, further members are waitlisted, and the Attendees panel shows a waitlisted count alongside the going count.

Managing attendees

Open an event and switch to its Attendees tab. Each attendee shows their name, email, RSVP date, status pill (going, waitlisted or cancelled) and, for paid events, a payment pill: "Paid £15.00", "pending" or "refunded". Click a row to expand their form answers. Export CSV downloads the whole list with answers as columns.

Refunds

If you need to refund a ticket, issue the refund from your Stripe dashboard (open it via Manage on Stripe in Storefront settings). The attendee's payment pill shows refunded once processed. Cancelling an event does not automatically refund tickets, so handle refunds before or after cancelling as suits your policy; see Publishing and drafts for cancellation itself.
