Branding: logo, icon and app name

Updated 17 July 2026

The Branding tab of the Style Manager holds the assets that make the app unmistakably yours: your logo, your app icon and your fonts. Alongside the controls, the phone preview shows your home screen so you can judge each asset in context.

App logo

Click the App Logo upload area and choose your logo file. The logo appears inside your app wherever your brand is shown, and in your dashboard sidebar next to your app's name. A logo with a transparent background (PNG or SVG) sits most comfortably on both light and dark surfaces.

App icon

The App Icon is the square image that represents your app, most importantly on your members' phone home screens. Upload a square image; a background colour option is available for icons that do not fill the entire square.

One nuance worth knowing: your in-app branding updates live, but the icon on a phone's home screen is baked into the installed app itself. Icon changes are picked up in your next app build and store release, managed from the Builds page.

Custom fonts

Below the logo and icon sits Font Upload. Upload your brand's font files and they become available in the Typography section's font pickers (Styles tab, Global scope), and render live in the phone preview. This is how your app escapes system-default typography, see Colours, fonts and global styles.

Your app name

Your app's display name is set in Settings under General, alongside its description, category and language. The name appears at the top of your dashboard sidebar and throughout your members' experience. You first chose it in the setup wizard, and you can change it any time.

How changes reach the live app

This is the part that surprises people. When you press Save in the Style Manager header:

  1. Your branding and styles are written to your app's configuration in Kinflo's backend.
  2. Your live app, mobile preview and hosted web app alike, subscribes to that configuration in real time.
  3. Within seconds, every open copy of the app re-themes itself: new logo, new colours, new fonts. No rebuild, no store review, no waiting.

The rare exceptions are assets physically packaged into the store binary, chiefly the home-screen app icon, which follow your next build instead.

Test your branding in both themes. If your app allows dark mode, flick the preview's light/dark toggle and check your logo still reads clearly, a dark logo on a dark background is the most common branding mistake we see.

With branding done, work through the rest of the design in the Style Manager overview.
