The onboarding flow builder
Updated 17 July 2026
The Onboarding tab of the Style Manager designs your members' first-launch experience, the sequence of screens between opening your app for the first time and landing inside it. This is different from your own creator onboarding: it is the flow your members walk through.
The tab shows your flow as a canvas of screen cards in order. Click a screen to edit it in place.
The mandatory sign-up block
Every flow includes a block of four screens that handle account creation: Welcome, Email, Username and Password. They travel together as one unit:
- You cannot delete them, every member needs an account.
- You can move the block within the flow, for example after a couple of teaser screens, so members see your value before being asked to sign up.
- You can edit their copy, the welcome heading, body text and button labels are all yours to change, with sensible defaults if you leave them blank.
Screens you can add
Around the mandatory block, build the story you want:
- Image + Text, a media screen with a heading and body, with the text positioned above or below the image. Perfect for introducing your app's promise in one or two screens.
- Question, ask the member something and store the answer. Question types include multi-select list, multi-select pills, single-select list, dropdown, slider, free text and single-line text. Answers help you understand who is joining and personalise their experience.
- Paywall, present your membership offer. Available when paid tiers are enabled for your app, place it near the end of the flow once the member is invested.
Add, reorder and remove screens directly on the canvas.
Backgrounds
Onboarding screens can carry their own look:
- Set a global background that applies across the whole flow, colour, image or none.
- Override the background on individual screens where you want a different mood.
Onboarding always renders in light theme, matching how the flow behaves in the live app, so what you design is exactly what ships.
Previewing the flow
While the Onboarding tab is open, the floating button in the corner becomes Preview Flow. Click it to play through your screens in order, exactly as a new member would experience them, without touching a phone. For a real-device check, save and run the app preview, see Preview your app on your phone.
Keep it short. Two or three screens of value, the sign-up block, one or two questions, then the paywall if you have one. Every extra screen before sign-up costs you a percentage of new members.
Saving
As everywhere in the Style Manager, changes apply when you press Save in the header, and new members see the updated flow within seconds. Undo, Reset and History all work on the Onboarding tab too.
